Hyderabad floods: 2 stuck in manhole rescued

Hyderabad: With the heavy rains lashing Hyderabad, most of the roads under GHMC were inundated with storm water. Two men fell into open manholes. Luckily they were rescued by the locals. Meanwhile MET predicted that Hyderabad would reel under heavy rains till September 27. Although heavy rain didn’t occur during the past two days but water continues to be stagnated upto the knees roads are in pathetic condition. GHMC, Water Works Department and Police Department have opened manholes in several areas to release water, but no sign boards have been put up. Consequently commuters are facing a lot of difficulties. During one week several incidents of two wheelers falling into manholes have occurred.

On Friday an auto trolley loaded with goods stuck into water at Nacharam. A man who was towing the carrier suddenly fell into manhole. People present nearby saved him.

Another person riding two wheeler suddenly fell into an open manhole. Locals rescued him. Motorists, who are wading through the submerged roads of the city should drive very carefully to prevent themselves from getting into any danger as there could be open manholes anywhere.
