Hyderabad: Fathers land in jail for minor children’s vehicle driving

Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Traffic Police intensified campaign against minors for driving vehicles. The police started a unique strategy of arresting father of the minor drivers by sending them to prisons for not fulfilling their parental responsibility of admonishing their children to refrain from indulging in such unlawful activities.

Mr. K. Altaf Husain, IX Addl. Metropolitan Magistrate sentenced the fathers of 45 boys to one day’s imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 500 each. Police had registered 1079 cases of such traffic violations.

Police also arrested a 14-year-old boy who was later sent to Juvenile Jail for traffic violations.

DCP of Traffic, Mr. A.V. Ranganath advised the parents not to permit their minor children to drive vehicles. If they fail to do so, cases will be registered against them and they will be sent to jail.

He also told that special teams have been concentrating especially on the minors who drive the vehicles. The vehicles are being seized. He also expressed the view that the duration of imprisonment may increase in the future.
