Hyderabad: Ex Congress MLA Jagga Reddy arrested in fake passport & visa case

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Police on Tuesday arrested former MLA and senior Telangana Congress leader K Jagga Reddy for allegedly carrying a fake passport and a visa. The strongman of the Sangareddy district is said to have visited the United States on fake documents.

Dy commissioner of police north zone Hyderabad Smt B Sumathi (IPS) in a press meet revealed that the Congress leader was arrested on charges of impersonation, forgery, cheating, and human trafficking and Passport Act.

Reddy who had travelled with a woman and a child to the US in 2004 claiming that they were his wife and child, allegedly submitted fake documents to show them as his family.

However the Congress has condemned the arrest alleging that the caretaker Telangana Rashtra Samithi government in the state is misusing its power by arresting opposition leaders on flimsy grounds.

Reddy was busy preparing for Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad’s meeting with the minority community on September 12. He was also detained earlier on September 7 in Sangareddy for protesting against CM K Chandrashekhar Rao.
