Hyderabad: Drugs worth Rs 1 Crore seized, AP cop’s name surfaces

Hyderabad: In a shocking turn of events a routine drug racket busted has revealed about a possible cop-drug mafia business according to Rachakonda Police officials.

The SOT sleuths of Malkajgiri on March 9 conducted sudden inspection which led to the arrest of five drug peddlers identified as P Kanakaraju (34), a driver from Seethampeta in Visakhapatnam, at Karmanghat and seized Rs 1 crore worth cocaine and heroin, TOI reports.

During the interrogation the accused claimed the package was given to them by a police officer they identified as Surender Reddy alias Suri Babu.

Based on the accused’s confession the police sleuths arrested Md Abed (48), a tobacco businessman from Nellore, M Omkar (27), a driver from Nellore; G Chakradhar (48), a priest from Warangal and K Rajasekhar (27), a driver from Nellore on March 13.

During the police interrogation, the accused confessed they had got the package from Abed’s friend Amjad of Nellore.

It turned out an AP cop identified as Suri Babu had in turned given the package to Amjad.

Further probe revealed that Suri Babu’s original name was Surender Reddy and he is an inspector of AP police.
