Hyderabad Diary

Hyderabad, November 30: The Telangana agitation repeats itself after 40 years. The same scenes which the state witnessed way back in 1969, when the then maverick, little known local leader Marri Chenna Reddy instigated a Telangana agitation, calling for a separate state of Telangana, raising a hue and cry that the natives of Telangana were getting a raw deal with the influx from Andhra and Rayalseema usurping all their jobs and lollies leaving the natives bereft and at the receiving end. And the then little known Marri Chenna Reddy went on to become a leader to reckon with on the national scene. With Mrs Indira Gandhi taking notice of him. And sensing him too dangerous and volatile for the local region called him over to the North and made him the Governor of Uttar Pradesh and kept him away from the state scene and later made him the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh which rid him of the Telangana fever and demand for good.

Now the present leader T Chandrashekar Reddy, seems to be trying the same stunt to make his political career. TCR, as he is now famous, making noise for the past five years, trying out all political parties and outfits, getting only promises from all and sundry for the time being only to be forgotten later, has now called for an all out final recourse. That of the Gandhian FAST UNTO DEATH which turned out to be totally anti-Gandhian
Agitation.

Violent and unruly scenes were seen in different parts of the city , with traffic , especially the heavy vehicles being grounded and life coming to a standstill in some sensitive parts of the city. The real scene of action was the Osmania University Campus. Wherein the students were drawn in obviously by the Students Union at the instigation of their political godfathers.

The main protagonist of the drama was, stopped and abstained even before he reached the venue stage at Siddipet to begin his act and was taken into custody and whisked away to the nearby Police Station where he is supposed to have begun his fast unto death within the four walls of the Police station ,far from the any eye watchers or witnesses. And he is to be in judicial custody for the next 14 days.

And many unruly and violent scenes of agitation were witnessed in different parts when the news of his arrest reached them with the police swinging into immediate action to check them deploying all their first aid techniques and instruments. Many of the students were rounded up and hauled up and taken away in the Police vans.

One young fellow, wonder what got into him, under what spur or emotion, or frenzy, set himself alight suffering serious burns.
Today, the next day of the Big day, a Bandh has been called for causing inconvenience to the common public with commercial shops being forced to close down and the city transport being hampered causing discomfiture to the office goers and commercial life of the city. The ruckus and noise is sure to go on for a few more days.

Love gone sour ends in Murder

The Techie world is in for a shock, as news spread of a jilted lover unable to take the love spurn ends up pushing her off the terrace which ends in fatal fall.

Given the times and trends, the live-in relationships have become quite common among the students and the yuppies of the GenX. In the techie world, under the American influence, wherein having a Friend for both the sexes is a must to qualify for a job. One of the questions asked in the interview for the young professionals is whether they have a steady love interest, in fact for the unmarried guys, it is a must to have a girl friend ,or doesn’t matter have a boy friend, but have a friend, a close intimate partner, in our plain Indian lingo a Paramour. The same goes for young unmarried girls. And if you say you are single and have none, neither a girl friend nor a boy friend, nor are you Dating or Seeing anyone ,you are not normal. Considered Abnormal, who knows ,may be dangerous. And you are just not eligible or suitable for a job. Especially in those multi-nationals. That is what the new IT age has taught our youngsters and they have no other option but to tow the line. Or else they are just not in the run of mainstream.

Hence, it is natural, in fact a must to have a partner, a lover, a paramour for all teenagers in our times. To try out as many partners before they choose to settle down. Marry and raise a family. And how long that will last, they themselves are not sure. That is the fait accompli of the younger generation today.

Once such live-in relationship having gone sour has ended in an accidental murder. Spurned by the girl, who having lived with him for the past two years, was turning him down at the behest of her parents, wanting him to go ahead with another girl. Usually , is it not the other way round which is in vogue? But times have really changed, Dear. It was the girl who growing tired of the boy wanted him to go marry someone else and leave her alone.

The poor fellow unable to take the rejection was pleading her to see reason. “ How could she do this to him after two years?” Is that not a Girls’ Line?

In the ensuing argument and complaint and pleas and tiff to see reason and scuffle the girl is pushed down in a fit of temper, ‘on the spur of the moment’, after all he was a man.

The Girl is dead and her body flown to her parents in Harayana, and the Lover is cooling and cogitating in the Police lock-up.

What do you make of this incident? Who is responsible for it? The IT revolution, the Americanisation of our lives or is it the Globalization?

IDD Gifts- Pink Slips on Sms

Many of our manual workers in Dubai, were in for a rude shock when they were informed of their termination over Sms when they had come back to their families to celebrate IDD. As all of us have been hearing of the recession, and Dubai was the most hard hit of all the Gulf Countries, with even high paid white- collar executives and professionals abandoning their Mercs at the airports and fleeing to their countries in Europe and States before the recovery notices and personnel come knocking at their doors. And most severely hit were the cheap manual labours, who had gone staking their all, selling their assets, hoping to make a fast buck there a few years back. When recession hits, the first and worst hit is the Construction Sector. The work overnight virtually comes to standstill. And the real estate comes crashing down. As we in the City are well aware of, and the repercussions it has had even on the high and mighty. What a fall they have had and where they have landed. What to talk of the Construction labour.

Most of them were not returning to their places, after their mandatory contracts lest they be laid off. They were working overtime, even without pays, just to keep their jobs, hoping to get them at a time when things look up. After years , when some of them had returned to celebrate the Idd with their near and dears, taking advantage of this furlough and absence the Bosses there have sent their firing orders over their Sms much to their shock and disbelief. Consoling , promising to send their belongings and arrears to their addresses.

The same Dubai which was once supposed to be paved with Gold for the manual Dicks of India is seeing such hard times. Is it the divine retribution and punishment for going against the Islamic way , Dubai is notoriously going ,astray and berserk in the name of progress and development? May Allah take mercy on our Ummah and lead them on the right Islamic way.
