Hyderabad: Crime rate against women has reportedly dropped by 10% and an overall crime up to 13% in 2017 in comparison to last year’s records said Police Officials.
Speaking to reporters, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V V Srinivasa Rao told on Thursday the number of cases registered under IPC and special local laws in the state was 14,479 cases as compared to 16,661 cases registered in 2016.
1,886 cases were registered for crime against women in 2017 as compared to previous year’s 2,099 cases.
Nearly 644 miscreants were arrested by the SHE Team in connection with eve teasing and stalking and 187 persons arrested in 94 cases registered regarding drugs and other contraband.
He also said serious crimes such as murders have dropped by 26% while grave crimes dropped to 14%, nearly 20% dropped in property-related crimes while 47% crimes dropped regarding chain snatching, Hans India reported.
