Hyderabad: Cricket betting racket busted, two arrested

Hyderabad: On credible information, Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team, apprehended two accused persons, namely Adesh and Mohith Agarwal and seized net cash of Rs. 4,70,000/-, two cell phones at the instance of accused persons and Prime accused Suraj is absconding.

Suraj, Bookie, presently residing at Surath, Gujarath (absconding). Adesh Kumar, aged: 35 yrs, occ: Business, R/o.
Basheerbagh, and Mohith Agarwal, aged: 32 yrs, occ: Business R/o Basheerbagh, were arrested.

Police said that the Prime accused Suraj is organizing cricket betting from Surath of Gujarath and accepting cricket betting in and around Hyderabad from the punters with the help of his friends. During IPL -2019 between RCB Vs Kings XI Punjab teams at Bangalore on April 24, 2019, the accused persons receiving the calls from the bookie Suraj and collecting the betting amounts from the punters.

On a tip off that the accused persons are collecting huge betting amounts from punters in connection with the IPL Cricket match between RCB Vs Kings XI Punjab teams, the sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team, apprehended the accused persons at HDFC Bank, Basheerbagh while Adesh and Mohith Agarwal were carrying the cash and trying to handing it over to the cricket betting collection to Suraj and seized the cash and cell phones.
The accused persons along with seized property handed over to SHO Narayanguda P.S. for taking further action against them.

The above arrests were made under the supervision of S. Chaitanya Kumar, Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force, by K. Madhu Mohan Reddy, Inspector of Police, South Zone, Hyderabad and SIs V. Narender, N.Srishylam , KN Prasad Varma, and Mohd Thakiuddin along with the staff.
