Hyderabad: Cracks have been found on the walls and staircase of Moosapet Metro Station. However, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) sources claimed that they were rectified immediately.
Citizens after noticing the cracks on the external side of the concourse level of the station, near the Moosapet flyover informed the officials of HMRL, who in turn immediately sent the engineers to the spot and got it rectified. Claiming that the cracks were only a couple of days old, sources from L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad (L&TMRH) said that the cracks are not a major infrastructural defect and are limited to the surface. They filled the cracks with putty.
According to the passersby, the cracks were visibly deep and spread to a wider area over the wall. Cracks were also sighted on the staircase that leads into the station, towards the vegetable market, located underneath. They could pose a risk to motorists passing by on the road below.
Earlier in February, a massive chunk of Ameerpet metro station’s Concourse level chipped off and fell on a 25-year-old Mounika, killing her on the spot. Following the incident, rumours were rife on social media platforms about various metro stations in Hyderabad city, developing cracks and posing risk to users. However, Metro Rail authorities rubbished the rumours calling them as fake.
