Team Anna member and former IPS officer Kiran Bedi today termed Hyderabad as the ‘corruption capital’ of the country.
Talking to mediapersons here,
she said it was a fact that every voter was paid Rs 15,000 in the Lok Sabha and Assembly byelections, for which the polling was held yesterday.
Corruption in Hyderabad, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, is a matter of very serious concern, she said and stressed the need for a strong criminal justice system, strong Jan Lokpal Bill, good and independent investigating agency and independent and honest judiciary.
Ms Bedi said that it was astonishing that crores of rupees had been given to a CBI Judge for granting bail to a mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy.
She said there was a need for fast track courts to deal with the cases as these are spread over years together to come to an end.
In USA, an Indian was accused of insider trading. She said the US court has said the case will be settled in six weeks. However in India, for registering an FIR, it takes six weeks, Ms Bedi said.
