Hyderabad, February 08: The Central Crime Station (CCS) police on Tuesday opposed anticipatory bail to Pune-based stud farm owner Mr Hasan Ali Khan, stating that he deliberately gave false information while getting his passport. In a counter-petition filed before a Nampally court, the police submitted that Mr Khan filed the anticipatory bail plea to avoid being produced before court.
“Hasan Ali made fresh application for passport on September 30, 2000 (by) giving his Banjara Hills address and naming first wife Mehboobunnisa Begum as his spouse, though he (had) divorced her on February 25, 1999 and shifted to Pune. He is bound to give true facts on the application,’’ the prosecution submitted. The police told court that a case was registered against Mr Khan under IPC Sections 177 (furnishing false information) and 420 (cheating), and Section 12 (1) (B) of Passport Act, on court’s direction after Regional Passport Officer Mr K. Srikar Reddy made the complaint.
Mr Khan was subsequently issued a passport (number Z1069986) on his old Banjara Hills address. “Several criminal cases are pending against him in various cities, including Patna, Pune and Mumbai, and he is filing such petitions to avoid being produced in court,’’ the CCS police said and sought to dismiss his petition. The XII ACMM court had issued production warrant against Mr Khan three months ago. He is lodged in Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai at present.
