Hyderabad: Constable saves 5 lives after his death

Hyderabad: T Kiran, a special police constable who met with a fatal accident on March 4 ended up saving several lives after his family donated his organs. Kiran was a constable with the 17th battalion in Kareemnagar. On March 4, he fell from his two-wheeler in Kareemnagar. He was rushed to a hospital and later shifted to KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad. However Kiran was declared brain dead by the doctors on March 8.

Kiran’s family members decided to donate his organs through government’s Jeevandan scheme. His liver was donated to two recipients at KIMS hospitals, and his kidneys were donated to two recipients, one at KIMS and the other at Deccan hospital. His heart was sent to Chennai for transplantation via a special flight.

Thus Kiran saved the lives of 4 persons in Hyderabad and one in Chennai after his death.
