Hyderabad can be made joint capital till a set period: Rajaiah

Hyderabad, September 10: Mr. Rajaiah, the Congress MP representing Telangana welcomed the initiative taken by Seema Andhra MP Mr. Arun Kumar to begin dialogue on Telangana issue. While opposing the proposal of making Hyderabad the permanent capital of the two states he announced to agree on making Hyderabad the joint capital for 5 to 10 years.

Talking to media yesterday Mr. Rajaiah said “we have more than once announced to allay the doubts of Seema Andhra leaders for formation of separate Telangana state”.

He claimed “Seema Andhra leaders should first agree on bifurcation of the state then we are ready for a dialogue on other topics including water, electricity and workers.”

“We welcome the proposal of Mr. Arun Kumar for beginning of dialogue but we are not ready to make Hyderabad the permanent joint capital of both the states. If Seema Andhra leaders want to make any of the cities in their region the capital then they must first identify it and till the development of that city we can consider making Hyderabad the joint capital.” He reiterated.
