Hyderabad calm after Ayodhya verdict

Hyderabad, September 30: Hyderabad which is on alert in the view of Ayodhya verdict delivered by the Allahabad High Court today remained calm and no untoward incident was reported, police said.

Amidst thick security cover with over 20,000 security personnel keeping a strict vigil across the city, many areas including South Zone in Old city wore deserted look as most people stayed indoors while some who went to offices went home early.The Police had made all the commercial establishments closed and barricaded sensitive areas in Hyderabad.

“No untoward incident was reported in the state. It remained absolutely calm. The security arrangements would continue for a couple of days,” said A.K Khan, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad.

The city, which had witnessed large-scale riots post- Babri Masjid demolition in 1992, also remained calm amidst security personnel armed with guns, lathis and riot control equipment on the streets.
