Hyderabad, November 10: It is being talked about that Gulam Nabi Azad, AICC General Secretary in charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs has prepared a formula to resolve the Telangana tangle. One of the key suggestions of Azad is making Hyderabad a centrally administered territory with 35 satellite towns merged in it. Azad has also reportedly suggested setting up of a powerful Regional Development Board or Council to wipe off the backwardness of Telangana rapidly. This will be on the lines of the Regional Boards created for Maratwada and Vidarbha regions. The board will be autonomous and will have a massive budget to transform plans into actions.
It is learnt that Azad has already discussed the matter with party Chief Sonia Gandhi and obtained her approval. The matter would be discussed with the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh after he returned from his Sarc Summit. After obtaining the nod from the PM, Home Minister Chidambaram would call an all-party meeting and put this idea across.
Though the Congress leadership has made it clear that second SRC was the only solution for dealing with demands of smaller states, it is being said that the formula of Azad would be first put across. If it was not accepted by the main players of Telangana, then Second SRC would be the only alternative, reports suggest. The Congress High Command has sensed the urgency and seriousness of the problem and it is being said that by the 12th of this month, some concrete announcement would be made.
