Hyderabad, October 1: The general strike called by Telangana Political Joint Action Committee has entered into 18th day. Hyderabad bandh was observed on Friday on the appeal made by JAC after conducting various protest programmes such as boycott of government work, rasta roko, rallies and gherao of Telangana leaders.
Bandh was complete in the new city however the old city was not affected by the bandh. RTC services were totally disrupted and traffic seemed to be quite low due to shops being closed down. Petrol pumps and cinema theatres were also closed.
Private educational institutions had announced holiday in view of bandh. Telangana auto unions also supported the bandh. Railway too cancelled its MMTS services.
BJP leaders staged dharna at Gun Park during Bandh and tried to enter assembly however they were stopped by the police. Police took BJP leaders including senior leader Bandaru Datatrya into custody.
