Hyderabad: A case of poisoning dogs has been reported to the KBHP colony Police station by the residents of Malaysian Township at Kukatpally.
According to a report published in TOI, a resident of Malaysian Township Varun Johar filed FIR against the mass killing of dogs and also informed animal rights activists.
He said, “I registered an FIR on Sunday evening and by the time I came back I received another call saying more two dogs were poisoned. We saw that one dog which ate the food was still alive, so we rushed him to the hospital while one dog succumbed in front of us”.
Deputy Director of Humane Society International (HIS), India, Alokparna Sengupta said, many dogs were missing since last few days and are suspected to have poisoned.
HSI India has announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for information on the accused.
According to Indian jurisdiction, it is a criminal offence to feed poisonous food to stray animals. A case under 429 (killing of animals) was booked and the colony inspector said that the investigation will be carried out as the postmortem is being done on the carcasses. CCTV footages will also be checked to find the anonymous murderer.
