Hyderabad Airport put on terror alert

The security cover at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, has been increased by 90 per cent after a car bomb threat was sounded at airports in the the Southern region, As the alert came in the backdrop of twin blasts in Chennai recently, the Cyberabad police and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel are on tenterhooks, taking up intensive checks near parking lots and vehicles arriving at the airport.

director-general of police B Prasada Rao said in Press Conference on Tuesday that all the superintendents of police concerned, commissioners in whose jurisdiction airports are located have been alerted. He said an alert was issued about terror groups’ plan to target airports.

Though the flights have not been affected, frisking activity, scanning and scrutiny of car movements have been intensified.
