Hyderabad: In line with the Honourable Prime Minister of India’s flagship campaign of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, GMR led Hyderabad International Airport is celebrating “Swachh Bharat Pakhwada” – a 15-day cleanliness and sanitation drive from 15th to 30th November.
As part of this initiative the airport today organized a ‘Swachhta March’ in the airport premises followed by a Clean Up Drive of the environs in which the Management, staff and all other stakeholders of the airport including Airlines officials, CISF, Customs officials, Concessionaires, Ground Handlers and the entire airport community participated.
Addressing the gathering after the Clean-Up Drive, Dy. CEO – GHIAL, Mr. Pradeeep Panicker highlighted the importance of cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene for an airport.
He thanked all the stakeholders for their support and cooperation in lending a helping hand in maintaining clean surroundings on par with global standards at the Hyderabad International Airport. He stated that we must recognize the efforts of each individual who is responsible for taking care to see that we live in clean surroundings and that their toil must be appreciated.
As part of the 15-day long campaign, the airport has started an awareness campaign across the terminal and on its social media platforms to creatively engage and promote the importance of cleanliness and sanitation among the public at large. As one of the cleanest airports, Hyderabad International Airport has been proactively participating in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan for several years.
The airport has a dedicated team that has been running this campaign on the ground ensuring high-quality standards of cleanliness are maintained.
Hyderabad International Airport has India’s first airport-based captive compost plant to process food waste into generating organic compost, which not only ensures cleanliness and sanitation of the airport but also nurtures the vast greenery across the airport approach road.
