Hyderabad: After Metro Rail, city to get “electric buses” soon

Hyderabad: Govt. of Telangana has a proposal to ply 40 electric buses in GHMC limits of Hyderabad in order to save the city from pollution.

TSRTC invited tenders for the supply of 40 electric buses. Eleven companies filed tenders which include Hyundai, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Gold Stone and a company from the UK.

RTC Engineering Officials told that Gold Stone Company submitted the lowest tender due to which their tender has been accepted. RTC entered into an agreement with Gold Stone Company. As per this agreement, the company has to supply 40 buses by the end of September this year. The headquarters of Gold Stone Company is located in China.

It is reported that this company will provide 40 buses to RTC on rental basis. All these buses would ply in GHMC limits.

According to the officials of TSRTC, in the second phase, tenders would be invited for the supply of 60 more buses. The responsibility of plying these buses and their maintenance rests with Gold Stone Company. RTC will pay the rent at the rate of Rs. 35.35 per km. This rate of rent is similar to the amount that is being offered to the private buses hired by TSRTC.
