Hyderabad: 77 trees, six power poles uprooted in city, GHMC squads plunge into action

Hyderabad: On account of sudden rain, accompanied with gales, a total of 77 trees and six electric poles got uprooted and rain water stagnated at 31 areas in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad on Thursday.

The GHMC control room received complaints to this effect till 7 pm. The emergency teams of the Corporation plunged into action after receipt of the complaints from the citizens. The Mayor, accompanied by senior officers, was personally monitoring the emergency operation from the Commanding Control Room at 7th floor in GHMC head office.

Commissioner Dr B. Janardhan Reddy visited Red Hills, Vijay Nagar colony and other areas where trees have fallen due to heavy rains and personally monitored the relief work where the emergency teams have removed the uprooted trees which were obstructing vehicular traffic. The Commissioner directed all the deputy commissioners and Engeers and emergency teams to keep constant vigil and remain alert to tackle the emergency situations.

The Commissioner also inspected some of the water logging and stagnation points in some of the areas where the teams are clearing the points immediately for the convenience of the citizens. (NSS)
