Hyderabad: A three-year-old girl who was undergoing treatment at Kaminenei Hospital after she was run over by a Police vehicle in Yadadri’s Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple on Wednesday succumbed to injuries yesterday.
The head constable A Shekhar who as on driver’s seat was arrested and booked.
According to reports, the three-year-old victim B Pranitha was a resident of Dilsukhnagar area, had visited the temple with her father Mallesh and relatives on Wednesday, TOI reports.
“The family had darshan at the temple and decided to spend the night in the temple premises. They slept under a tree in the parking area of the temple,” said deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Bhongir, Narayana Reddy said.
Promoted as head constable for City Armed Reserve- Shekhar along with his another constable friend visited the temple for Thanksgiving.
While reversing the patrolling vehicle Innova, constable Shekhar missed seeing the girl and run over her who had by then came under the left front tyre when he moved the jeep forward.
The girl was immediately rushed to a Government Hospital in Bhongir where she was administered first-aid and later shifted to a private hospital in LB Nagar.
The three-year-old minor had suffered a serious head injury and internal injuries, was said to stable on Friday, but doctors declared her dead on Sunday at around 6am.
The girl’s family was now grief-stricken as her father Mallesh, a private employee inconsolable.
“The girl died of severe head injury. We have altered the Section from 338 (Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) to 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC,” said Yadadri inspector, Narasimha Rao arresting Shekhar.
