Hyderabad: 25 lights, 100 feet cable stolen from Punjagutta graveyard

According to GHMC officials, they had put up the lights on the premises for convenience of people who visit the burial ground in memory of their departed kin on the festive occasion.

“We had installed the lights at the graveyard for Diwali. The next day, we received a word from the contractor saying that the bulbs were stolen,” said GHMC’s executive engineer Venu Madhav. The stolen equipments were worth over Rs 25,000.
Banjara Hills inspector K Srinivas said a case of theft had been registered. In his complaint, private contractor Md Mateen who had set up the lighting alleged that 25 lights and 100 feet cable were stolen.

During preliminary investigation, police came to know that the incident could be a result of rival groups overseeing the management of the Graveyard.
