Hyderabad: 14 foreign nationals detained by Police

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police detained 14 foreigners with the charge of overstaying without the permission of Indian Government on Wednesday.

They were caught in the surprise inspection done at Golconda, Humayunnagar, Asifnagar, Langerhouz, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Osmania University surrounding localities and Malakpet. Out of fourteen, Five of them were from Sudan, four from Yemen, two from Somalia, two from Kenya and one from Tanzania, reported The Hindu.

“After finding their visas and other travel documents, we found they were overstaying,” TF DCP B. Limba Reddy said. The inspection was carried by fifteen teams of Hyderabad Police Commissioner’s Task Force.

“Most of them came to India on student visas. House owners and others who rent out their properties or provide accommodation to foreigners will have to inform details of the residing foreigners to the local Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO).They should create an account with the FRRO website and inform about the stay of foreigners in their house and furnish details online by filling C-Form module,” Mr. Reddy explained.

Under section 7(3) and 7(4) of the Foreigners Act-1946, they had to follow the required action. Violation of which is punishable with imprisonment.
