Hyderabad: In a tragic incident occurred at L B Nagar, a 25-year-old biker died after falling into a pit of an under-construction underpass. Raghavender K died on the spot while his two friends, riding pillion, are struggling for their lives in a city hospital, after falling into the 20-feet deep pit dug for the underpass being constructed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. It must be noted that GHMC had entrusted the construction work to B Seenaiah Pvt Ltd.

According to eye witnesses the pit was not properly barricaded and no signage warnings were put up before the pit.

TOI has quoted the police saying, Raghavender, 25, fell into the pit in the largely deserted Chintalakunta area around 1.30 am in the early hours of Monday. A complaint was lodged by family members against the civic body and a bar located near the accident spot, which has been charged with removing portions of the barricade set up by the corporation to allow free movement of customers to the bar, as it was blocking the way.

Raghavender’s brother in law Srinivas V said that there was no signage or warning board near the pit. However the witnesses said the pit was cordoned on three sides, but it was kept open near the bar gate.
