The City Police on Friday granted conditional permission to the YSR Congress Party to conduct a public meeting “Samaikhya Shankharavam” at LB Stadium on October 26.
According to Central Zone DCP VB Kamalasan Reddy, permission was being granted in view of the High Court orders that permitted the YSRCP to hold meeting on October 19. Although the party has postponed the meeting to October 26, it would be allowed to conduct the same from 2 PM to 5 PM. However, the City Police have imposed as many as 19 conditions for the YSRCP’s public meeting.
“As per the Judgment of the Supreme Court of India, the organizer will be held responsible for the damage and destruction of private and public properties, consequence to the meeting held,” the DCP said. He also warned that the permission would stand cancelled if there was any sort of disturbance to Law and Order/Peace and public tranquility/communal harmony in the city.
The entry of participants to the meeting venue in processions or rallies has been banned. The party has been asked to obtain permission from the competent authority to use LB Stadium for the meeting. The organiser, YSRCP State IT Convener Challa Madhusudhan Reddy has been asked to furnish an undertaking that no inflammatory speeches and no incitement to any offence be attempted at the meeting by the speakers/leaders and no private or public property be destroyed/damaged in the process of conducting the public meeting.
The DCP stated that there are inputs that some anti-social elements are likely to mingle with the participants in the stadium and may cause disturbance/indulge in violence. “The organizer shall ensure that the public meeting is conducted in an orderly manner without giving scope for any sort of disturbance,” he said.
