The Hyderabad High Court today accepted an undertaking of the Commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation assuring that elections to the civic body would be held in all probability by January 31 next year.
The court, while hearing a petition against Telangana government’s failure to hold elections to GHMC, had earlier said that uncertainty in this regard cannot be allowed to continue.
Regular elections ensure vibrancy of the institutions and the government must hold elections at the earliest, said the court.
