Expressing concern over the dilapidated condition of historic Nizamia Unani Shifakhana and Unani Tibbi College at Charminar, Hyderabad Collector Natrajan Gulzaar on Wednesday directed the Ayush Department to provide immediate financial assistance for the hospital. He directed that the department provide essential infrastructure to upgrade the building and college as a sophisticated hospital.
Natrajan Gulzar issued these instruction while presiding over the meeting of Hospital and College Development Society held on Wednesday at the Hyderabad District Collectrate. He pointed out that Hyderabad city has made distinguished achievements in the field of Unani medicine and patients from across the world visit Hyderabad to avail the old age treatment for their ailments.
The Collector said that the historic hospital could not be left in a state of neglect. He sanctioned Rs 8 lakh for the purchase of power generator and directed the authorities concern to install the same to provide uninterrupted power supply to the hospital. He also sanctioned Rs 6 lakh for the reconstruction of the demolished wall of the hospital, Rs 1.5 lakh for installation of CCTV cameras for surveillance, purchasing Xerox machine for library and construction of toilets.
Natrajan Gulzar asked member of the society Dr Niyaz Ahmed Khan to consult and suggest the authority’s concern for the facelift and development of the hospital building.
Former chairmen Old Boys Association Dr. Niyaz Khan, Principal Nizamiya Tibbi College Dr Syed Arifuddin, Hospital Superintendent Dr Rafi Ahmed and other officials from the GHMC, Ayush and other departments also participated in the meeting.
