Huthis: Yemeni troops destroy mosques

Sanaa, September 28: Yemeni troops have stepped up their crackdown on the Shia opposition by launching attacks on mosques in the northern sector of the country.

The office of the leader of Opposition Leader, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, has declared that the army forces have destroyed some 90 mosques in “different conflicts”.

The opposition fighters say the Yemeni military have neither respect for the religious views of the people nor for human values.

Meanwhile, the opposition forces have announced that they have seized control of a military base near the Yemeni – Saudi border and that they have inflicted heavy damage on the Yemeni troops, who were moving towards the Harf Sufyan in the northern Amran Province.

In an effort to crush the local fighters, the government launched an offensive against the mountainous North on August 11, leaving hundreds of civilians dead and thousands of others displaced.

Also on Sunday, the Yemeni military bombarded residential areas in the Shia-populated north, killing and wounding dozens and destroying homes

According to Houthi resistance fighters, the military planes “deliberately” targeted residential areas in Baghem district as well as Dammaj in Saada province, leaving dozens of civilians dead or wounded.

Abdul-Malik al-Houthi has accused the government of discriminating against his people, vowing to continue the fight as long as they are attacked by the army forces.
