Hussey gives thumbs to security for IPL

Melbourne, March 14: Australia’s Michael Hussey will squeeze in a short IPL stint and expressed confidence over the security measures taken for the third edition of the Twenty20 tournament.

Hussey will have a short stint with the Chennai Super Kings as he then heads back to join his national team’s tour of New Zealand.

The two-Test series in New Zealand starts on Friday and finishes on March 31.

”I’ve been in pretty close consultation with Chennai Super Kings,” Hussey was quoted as saying by APP.

”They’re bending over backwards to get everything in place.

”So I’m pretty confident at this stage that I’ll be more than happy to go. Fingers crossed. That is their number one priority, the safety of the players, so that has given me a lot of comfort really,” he added.

After the IPL gets over, the national teams will move to the West Indies in late April for the Twenty20 World Cup.

Victoria skipper Cameron White and Queensland all-rounder James Hopes have also left the Australian ODI squad in New Zealand and will be up against each other this week’s Sheffield Shield final before the duo heads to the IPL.

Hussey’s brother David will also play for Victoria in the Shield final here before taking up his IPL commitments.

Test squad members Ryan Harris and Steve Smith will also join their IPL franchises after the two-match series in Wellington and Hamilton.
