Hyderabad: Hussain Sagar lake has touched its full-tank level (FTL) on Sunday. After Hyderabad witnessed a moderate rainfall of nearly 3 cm. The water level stood at +513.410 feet, which is the alarming FTL mark of the lake, officials said.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials said there was no danger but residents living in the downstream areas of Domalguda, Himayatnagar, Liberty and Ashok Nagar can be affected. The design of Hussain Sagar is such that it can hold water to up to 1.5 metres above FTL, GHMC said.
Residents living downstream areas would be alerted and will be asked to shift to nearby rescue camps if the level crosses 513.8 feet, officials added. For now, corporation officials have planned the outflow rainwater through vents and nalas scattered around the lake.
If the spell of rain continues, which is likely over the next three days as per the IMD forecast, the lives of people living in downstream areas could be disrupted.
