Bareilly: The 40-year-old man who was found HIV+ was allegedly killed by his wife and in-laws. He was undergoing counseling at the local ART centre and had gone to his in-laws’ house at Bhojipura Tehsil.
He was a truck driver from Khamariya village. He had married a woman from Atta Patti in 2013. After some time he fell ill and started living with his in-laws.
According to police report, he was diagnosed with AIDS but he did not reveal his illness fearing stigma.
The man was found dead in mysterious circumstances on Wednesday. His family members did not give any satisfactory reason behind his sudden death. They informed the family of the victim instead of making a report to police.
According to post-mortem report, the man was strangulated to death. Police registered a case against his wife, father-in-law and two other relatives.
Mr. J.P. Yadav, Inspector of Bhojipura Police Station recorded the statement of victim’s family member which reveals that his wife and in-laws are suspected to be involved in his murder.
Police registered a criminal case and investigation is in progress. No arrests have been so far.
