Srinagar, April 16: Favouring early resumption of composite dialogue with Pakistan, chairman of moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umer Farooq today said the Centre should take the Kashmiri leadership on board to find a lasting solution to the Kashmir issue.
“Kashmir is a political issue and can be resolved through political means alone,” the Mirwaiz said addressing a Friday congregation at historic Jamia Masjid in old city.
“India should take into account the ground realities and initiate composite dialogue with Pakistan and Kashmiris to find a lasting solution to the issue,” he said.
Highlighting the need for confidence building measures, Mirwaiz said the Hurriyat has already put forward a four-point proposal in his regard.
The Hurriyat, in its four-point proposal, has demanded withdrawal of troops, revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), release of prisoners and free movement on either side of the LOC.
