Hurricane Florence might have life-threatening impacts

Washington: Tropical storm Florence turned hurricane might have life-threatening impacts stated the National Hurricane centre in an advisory issued on Monday.

In a tweet, the National Hurricane centre wrote, “There is an increasing risk of two life-threatening impacts from Florence: storm surge at the coast and freshwater flooding from a prolonged heavy rainfall event inland. However, given the uncertainty in track and intensity forecasts at those time ranges, it’s too soon to determine the exact timing, location and magnitude of those impacts.”

The hurricane is expected to make landfall between late Thursday and Friday morning, reported Fox News.

Tropical storm Florence, heading towards the east coast of the United States on Monday, has turned into a hurricane and the south-east areas are likely to get affected.

Advisories for tropical storm Isaac have also been issued by the centre as it is expected to strengthen and has become a hurricane. Hurricane Isaac is moving towards the Caribbean islands of Lesser Antilles.

Another hurricane, Helene is also strengthening over the eastern Atlantic. Major rainfall is expected in the Atlantic islands of Cape Verde.
