Over 300 Israelis stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque to hold Jewish religious celebrations through the Mughrabi Gate.
The settlers stormed in to celebrate Yom Kippur also known as Day of Atonement, reports MEM.
Reporting on the assault by Israeli forces, Firas Al-Dibs spokesman of the Islamic Endowment Department (Waqf), Firas Al-Dibs, said the forces assaulted Waqf department’s staff as well as other Palestinians who were present at the time when Israeli settlers stormed the compound of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
As many as 7 Palestinians and Waqf staff members suffered injuries, bruises on the chest, shoulders and back confirmed medical reports while 3 Palestinians were detained by the forces.
The Israeli police reportedly confiscated the IDs of Muslim worshippers, including women and children, before allowing them entry to the holy site.
The Israeli Poice have already begun to seal off main roads in Jerusalem on the eve of Yom Kippur.
