Kabul : Locals officials today said that more than 400 families have been displaced after a five-day clash between security forces and Daesh rebels in Kot district of Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province.
The battle between the two groups started on Friday after a group of Daesh fighters attacked security forces’ outposts in Kot district, reports Tolo News.
Following the attack, the security forces launched a military operation in the area in which over 160 of the fighters were killed.
Meanwhile, Nangarhar governor Salim Kunduzi said the insurgents torched 90 houses in the attack and added that the displaced will be provided with facilities and assistance.
Nearly 161 Daesh militants, seven security force members and five civilians were killed in the Nangarhar clash, reports suggest.
The Daesh fighters are reportedly active in parts of Nangarhar, particularly in Kot and Achin districts. (ANI)
