Hundreds of dalits thank CM for SC, ST Sub-Plan

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday made it clear that his government under the guidance of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi has been effectively implementing the party policies for all-round development of the weaker sections. He also pointed out that his government had enacted a law for effective implementation of the SC, ST Sub-Plan towards this end.

Hundreds of Dalit people’s representatives from Kukatpally Assembly constituency called on Kiraqn Kumar Reddy at the CM’s camp office here on Monday morning and expressed their gratitude to him for making the SC, ST Plan into a law.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said his government was sincerely implementing Congress policies for the uplift of SCs, STs, BCs, Minorities and downtrodden sections in the State. He also said that “Indiramma Kalalu” program was being implemented to make sure that benefits of welfare programs are reaching the needy by removing the role of middlemen and other selfish elements. The Chief Minister said his government was planning to earmark Rs 12,250 crores in this year’s annual budget for the welfare of the SCs and STs.
Speaking on the occasion, Labbi Venkatswamy, MLA, hailed the Chief Minister for taking very daring and historic step of giving legal status to the SC, ST Sub-Plan. He also described Kiran Kumar Reddy as Messaiah of Dalits, poor and downtrodden sections. Kukatpally Assembly constituency Dalit leader Peddaiah, Congress Youth association leader Ajay and several Dalit leaders were present. (NSS)
