Humilated BHU student awaits justice

Varanasi, September 17: The four students of Benaras Hindu University, who are accused of ragging their physically challenged junior in October, 2009 in Varanasi, have been arrested by the police on Friday.

The incident came into light after the vice chancellor of the university D.P Singh on Wednesday asked the officials to take action against the culprits.

Earlier, the accused students on October 13, 2009 stripped, assaulted and then filmed the victim naked. They even circulated the MMS to other students of the university.

This embarrassment forced the victim, a B.Com second year student to leave the academic term in between.

The victim, who had lost one academic year for missing his classes, narrated whole incident to the head and dean of the faculty of commerce, B. Jha in March this year. Jha told him that it was too late to take action against the culprits and asked him to repeat his lost academic year.

After he resumed classes, some of his classmates again started troubling him. This time the victim sent his complaint to Jha and the chairman of BHU anti ragging squad.

Following the complaint, Singh swung into action and asked the authorities to take action against the culprits.
