Telangana State Director General of Police Anurag Sharma today observed that human trafficking was the biggest crime across the world.
The CID Wing and several voluntary organizations organized an awareness program to Police officials at CESS located at Ameerpet here on Sunday marking ‘World Human Trafficking Eradication Day’. Inspector General Sowmya Mishra and Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagvath participated in the program and created awareness among the police.
Speaking on the occasion, DGP disclosed that 953 cases of human trafficking were filed after 2014 and saved 1,397 people from the trafficking. He suggested to the police officials to go through the roots of the problem and find an effective solution to the malady. He also advised officials to work with voluntary organizations, women and child welfare departments jointly. He said the Police department was sparing no efforts to curb the human trafficking in Telangana State. There was a need to eradicate child labor too, he observed. (NSS)
