Human rights activist and noted lawyer B Chandrasekhar, who filed a case at National Human Rights Commission against fake encounters, today demanded that Inspector General of police P Sitaramanjaneyulu be arrested and police medals be withdrawn for his involvement in encounters, which are proved to be fake by the NHRC and ordered compensation to the deceased families. Addressing a press conference here, he said he had filed a petition in NHRC against the fake encounters which the NHRC had accepted under Section 18/B. He said NHRC had referred petition to the bench, comprising Justices B C Patel and Satyabathra Pal, which is dealing the fake encounter cases. The NHRC activist said he met NHRC chairman K G Balakrishnan and apprised him about the 19 fake encounters which took place in Guntur and Kurnool districts during the period when P Sitaramanjaneyulu was the SP of the districts. The lawyer said he also pleaded the NHRC that Narco Analysis test be conducted on the police officer, P Sitaramanjaneyulu, who is IGP of greyhounds now, to extract facts from him for his involvement in the fake encounters. The human rights activist said the NHRC had declared as fake 16 out of 19 police encounters, and ordered for a monetary compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the kin of the deceased, which was already paid to some of the families The NHRC sent its findings to the state government recommending a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to each of the family of the deceased of the encounter.
