Amman, August 06: A huge fire raged for several hours Thursday in downtown Amman, causing extensive damage at Souq al-Bokhariyah, one of the capital’s oldest markets.
More than 300 firefighters and civil defence personnel managed to extinguish 90 per cent of the blaze by the early afternoon, official spokesman of the Public Security Directorate Colonel Farid al-Sharaa said.
“We don’t have any information so far about the causes of the fire,” he added.
He reported no casualties in the blaze that erupted at dawn.
