Johannesburg : Jennifer Hudson is all set to headline the cast of NBC’s ‘ Hairspray Live!’ alongside Harvey Fierstein on December 7.
The show, which is based on the cult John Waters’ movie set in 1960s Baltimore, concerns the full-figured Tracy Turnblad, whose fondest wish is to appear on a local television dance program, reports News24.com.
The 34-year-old actress will be portraying the character of Motormouth Maybelle.
Meanwhile, Fierstein, who is also writing the teleplay, will cross-dress and play Edna Turnblad, Tracy’s mother.
The new live musical will be directed for TV by Alex Rudzinski. (ANI)
