Hubli: Hundreds of canines of various breeds enthralled the audience at a dog show in Hubli in Karnataka yesterday.
At least 300 dogs of 23 breeds, including Mudhol Hound, German Shepherd, Bulldog, Golden Retriever, Bearded Collie and Boxer participated in the event along with their owners, and performed on the commands of the trainers.
The show was organised by Veterinary Chiropractic Association in which dogs from Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Mudhol, Jamakhandi and Davangere districts showed off their skills and won the hearts of the audience.
The owners of the winning dogs were rewarded with a cash prize of rupees 15,000.
“We are expecting nearly 400 dogs. Already 300 dogs are registered here. Nearly 22-23 breeds are expected. As per registration 23 breeds of dogs have registered and our champion dogs from Mudhol, Mudhol Hounds, we are expecting nearly 50 dogs from the Mudhol and other parts of Bagalkot. They are also participating. First of the champion of the breed, we have kept first prize for rupees 15,000. For other best breeds, we are keeping rupees 5,000 each for each breeds,” said Palegar, deputy director of Veterinary Chiropractic Association.
The event also created awareness about pet dogs, their vaccination requirements and preventive measures to be taken while rearing pet dogs. (ANI)
