New Delhi: World’s third largest smartphone seller Huawei is likely to start manufacturing handsets in India soon.
Huawei India Consumer Business Group president Peter Zhai speaking at an event launch said the company will in short-term announce the local manufacturing plan.
“Now we already have licences for manufacturing in place,” he said.
Though the details will be announced in about a month’s time, the company expects India to be its second largest mobile devices market after China.
As an international brand, the company also said it is likely to develop the India business, adding it is aggressively working to promote it.
“Huawei will increase presence across 50,000 stores by end of this year from about couple of thousands now,” said Zhai.
“India is a very special market and we would like to be more localized in terms of branding. We have a team of 3,000 people in research and development, which we would like to leverage for local understanding of consumer needs,” he added.
The company also unveiled two tablet PCs, the Matebook and TalkBand B3, which will be making its debut in India soon. (ANI)
