HRD Ministry has initiated the process for appointment of a new IIT Delhi director, weeks after it relieved R Shevgaonkar of his duties.
The Ministry has invited applications for the post after Shevgaonkar was relieved on June 11.
“The search-cum-selection Committee will consider applications received as well as nominations received from eminent persons.
“The appointment will be on contractual basis for a period of five years or till the attainment of 70 years, whichever is earlier,” the advertisement stated.
Interested individuals may apply giving detailed resume in the following format clearly bringing out research, teaching, industry-academia collaborations and administrative achievements, alongwith two pages justification in support of their candidature, it said.
Shevgaonkar had resigned last December amid reports that he was under pressure from the Ministry on a controversial move to set up an International Institute of Technology Research Academy (IITRA) in Mauritius.
An MoU was signed between IIT-Delhi and Mauritius Research Council for setting up of the academy.
The Ministry had delayed accepting his resignation even as the board of governors in March this year recommended to the Ministry to accept his resignation.
