Daughter of a retired IPS officer has knocked the doors of AP State Human Rights Commission for protection to her life and money for living.
In her complaint to the State HRC on July 31, 2012, the complainant stated that she was harassed and physically tortured by her parents and siblings branding her as mentally unstable and depressed, causing grievous injuries. She alleged that her father C. Dothanga, a 1975 batch IPS officer of AP cadre, retired in 2003, beat her several times and her sister, instead of shielding her, facilitated her father to continue beating. She also alleged that her father also attempted to kill her several times.
The complainant stated that she has been simply requesting her father to educate her abroad. She alleged that despite her complaints to police several times to protect her life, no action has been taken since her father was influencing the police. She further alleged that due to unbearable harassment by her parents, she moved to a rented house, but her father coerced the landlord to get her vacated from the house. She stated that her parents were not giving her money while they were leading luxurious lives. She stated that apart from survival, her life was in danger from her father and other family members.
The complainant urged the Human Rights Commission to intervene and order the parents to pay her Rs 41,000 per month towards rent and monthly maintenance and also get her educated in the UK.
Responding to her complaint registered as HRC no. 1784/2012 (SR no. 7246/2012), the HRC has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, to inquire into the matter personally and submit a report to the Commission by August 13, 2012. The HRC adjourned the petition to August 13.
