Hyderabad, April 12: After increasing the maximum limit of gratuity for its employees from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 8 lakh, the state government on Monday enhanced the house rent allowance (HRA) to 14.5 per cent and 12 per cent at places where the HRA is admissible at 12.5 per cent and 10 per cent respectively at present. The enhanced rates of HRA will come into force with effect from April 1.
Following the agitations by the government employees, the state government has reached into an agreement with the JAC of Employees, Teachers, Workers and Pensioners for enhancing the house rent allowance.
The state government employees working in cities/towns where the HRA is admissible at 12.5 per cent and 10 per cent, will now get 14.5 per cent and 12 per cent respectively of their basic pay subject to a maximum of Rs 8,000 per month.
As per the revised rates of HRA, the government employees in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area will receive 30 per cent of basic pay subject to maximum of Rs 12,000 per month.
Similarly, employees working in other major municipal corporations will continue to get HRA upto 20 per cent of their basic pay subject to maximum of Rs 8,000 per month.
