HPCA to set up training institute for other sports

Dharamsala, Jun 06: To nurture the sporting talents of the state, Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association has decided to set up a specialised organisation for other sports, HPCA President Anuraag Thakur said today.

The Himachal Institute of Sports (HIS) will train the sportspersons and build their calibre with the help of foreign specialists. The institute will also appoint 50 coaches for different disciplines in the district headquarters later this month.

Thakur said that Rs 30 lakh annually would be spent for the HIS, half of which will come from the corporates.

Thakur also mentioned that the HPCA is looking for land in the vicinity of the town to set up another cricket stadium to meet the requirement of the big tournaments, during which the players should not travel much for the matches.
