HP govt paying Rs 4450 crore towards salaries of employees: CM

Shimla, October 04: Himachal Pradesh government was incurring an annual expenditure of Rs 4450 crore for payment of salaries of employees and taking care of demands and grievances of its employees, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said today. Inaugurating a two-day conference of National State government Employees Federation here, Dhumal said the 13th Finance Commission had under-assessed the committed liabilities of the state on payment of salary and pension of employees, loans and interest by more than Rs 1800 crore, which was “great injustice” to people.

He said the salary, pension and interest payment liability of the government was Rs 8150 crore but the same had been assessed at Rs 6800 crore, leaving a huge resources deficit. Dhumal said the daily wage had been increased by Rs 45 in the last 33 months benefitting the labourers to the tune of Rs.
