Hyderabad, April 11: As the temperature shoots up, shorts tend to get shorter! From college students to fashionistas -everybody is adopting it as their style mantra to beat the summer heat.
Let’s find out how these little fashion icons can become alter egos for college students through the sweltering heat of summer.
Many students are opting to wear sleeveless kurtas in bright hues, shorts and capris.
Kepler Jones, Loyola Academy student, says, “This summer I’m gonna team up baggy tshirts with bright floral print shorts along with flip-flops. I am going to complete my look by wearing shades in bright tropical colours like orange and green.”
However, society in which you are residing in plays an important factor while choosing summer dresses that one can don. Alison Lal, a Loyola Academy student, opines, “While choosing your summer clothes it’s best to keep in mind the society you’re living in. If you are residing in a conservative society, you can wear cotton kurtas with cap sleeves in funky colours and team them up with capris. On the other hand, if you live in a society with a broadminded outlook, you can pull off shorts, short skirts with tank tops, halters.”
While Alison believes in keeping the society in mind before donning any controversial outfit, Apeksha, a mass communication student prefers going her way.
“I prefer wearing loose, sleeveless kurtas in bright shades as they are not only comfortable but also stylish,” says Apeksha.
Summer is often seen as a season to make fashion statements and to wear chic summer dresses. Sakina Hamza says, “I plan on wearing dungarees, jumpsuits, linen trousers, printed cotton dresses and team them with funky flipflops”.
While the girls are all set to welcome summer with their varied style statements, the guys are not behind. Rohan, 6th standard student, says, “I would wear shorts and loose tshirts. Summer or not I would keep my hair long.”
While some guys want to keep it casual with simple pair of shorts and tees, others want to funk it up with bright colours and big prints.
This season could also prove one of the best times for designers to prove their creativity as many people indulge in shopping to get their summer wardrobe. Pratima, a St. Francis student and also a designer says, “Designers can take it as a challenge to design clothes to their ability as it is very difficult to please people during summer season”.
Youth are keeping accessories to the minimum as they feel it to be unnecessary weight to carry around. Rebecca says, “I would wear a simple neck piece and earrings and maybe a watch. Also, I would tie my hair up. Makeup is a complete no-no at any cost”.
While dressing fashionably would be on everyone’s mind, it is more important to take care of your skin due to soaring temperatures. So, don’t forget to apply loads and loads of sunscreen lotion before you step out looking all stylish!
