Housing Schemes – Crores of Rupees swallowed

Govt. of Telangana has decided to investigate the scam in the implementation of Housing Schemes. Mr. KCR has ordered probe through CB-CID. It is learnt that there has been mass scale irregularities in Housing Scheme. According to the statistics presented to CM, it was revealed that soon after the formation of Telangana State a review of the scheme was conducted in 593 villages. The officials found that there has been a misappropriation of Rs. 235 crore. It was reported that there is no record of construction of 22, 40, 000 houses constructed during 2006-14. The officials did not furnish any satisfactory reply in this regard. The previous Govt. took disciplinary action against 490 officials who were allegedly involved in the scam. It is said that 36000 houses have been included in the record without constructing them. It was also noticed that during 2008-09, 75% of the budget was utilized for Housing Scheme and a lot of money was looted.

Since TRS Govt. promised to construct houses on an area of 125 sq. yards for the poor, it took stock of the implementation of the Housing Schemes. The officials handed over district wise investigation report to CM according to this report 45000 houses in Adilabad, 41000 in Manthani, 32000 in Kovangal and 30000 houses in Pargi have been included as constructed without constructing them.

CM has issued orders to the officials to present the reports of irregularities in the implementation of various other schemes. It is reported that the CM will very soon issue instructions to probe into the issue of bogus ration card. The officials of Civil Supplies Dept. have reported that so far nearly 2 lakh bogus ration cards have been surrendered. According to 2011 census, there are 84, 20, 662 households in the State but so far 1, 470, 2479 ration cards have been issued. Govt. is decided to investigate these irregularities in order to extend the benefits of Govt. schemes to the deserving persons.
